EVARA at Africa Health ExCon 2025: Turning Sustainability Goals into Hospital-Level Practice
EVARA Group participated in the 4th Africa Health ExCon, held June 24–27, 2025, at Cairo’s Egypt International Exhibition Center and Al-Manara International Conference Center. Co-hosted with Africa CDC and convening policymakers, health-system operators, investors, and industry leaders, the forum spotlighted digital transformation, resilient supply chains, and sustainability—an agenda that closely mirrors EVARA’s work with hospitals across the region.
Throughout the week, EVARA engaged ministries, hospital groups, and private operators on how to translate high-level sustainability commitments into daily operating practice. Discussions centered on practical pathways to lower environmental footprint while strengthening compliance and efficiency: tightening HVAC and filtration performance, reducing water-use intensity, integrating on-site renewables where feasible, and deploying digital monitoring to verify performance and inform decision-making. EVARA also outlined end-to-end, life-cycle management of medical waste—from source segregation and safe internal movement to treatment technologies such as autoclaving, microwave, or high-temperature incineration with emissions controls—emphasizing standard operating procedures, documentation, and staff training as the backbone of risk reduction and regulatory alignment.
A recurring theme in bilateral meetings was moving “from policy to performance.” Hospital leaders sought clear roadmaps that connect national guidance to site-level KPIs, routines, and audit cycles. EVARA presented frameworks that knit together governance, SOPs, and dashboards, along with low-friction digital tools—barcode/QR chain-of-custody for waste containers, IoT tracking of sterilization parameters, and exception alerts tied to standard procedures—to accelerate improvement and simplify reporting to regulators and payers. Given the event’s focus on procurement under Egypt’s Unified Procurement Authority, EVARA also contributed to conversations on standardizing specifications for segregation containers, PPE, disinfectants, and treatment assets without sacrificing lifecycle value.
Participation at ExCon culminated in a set of follow-ups with hospitals and health authorities to scope pilot projects for digital waste tracking and sterilization-process monitoring, roll out facility-wide SOP upgrades and staff certification programs, and structure procurement for compliant treatment technologies. These workstreams aim to deliver measurable KPIs on safety, cost, and environmental performance, reinforcing EVARA’s commitment to help healthcare providers turn sustainability goals into consistent, auditable practice.
