Cairo, Egypt — June 24–27, 2025. EVARA Group participated in the 4th edition of Africa Health ExCon, the continent’s flagship healthcare exhibition and congress held at the Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC) and Al-Manara International Conference Center. Co-hosted with Africa CDC and organized in collaboration with AUDA-NEPAD and Egypt’s Unified Procurement Authority, the event convened public and private leaders to exchange solutions and accelerate health innovation and trade across Africa. Why this event matters

Africa Health ExCon has quickly become a continental focal point for collaboration, investment, and knowledge sharing—bringing together policymakers, health-system operators, industry, and development partners. The 2025 edition emphasized digital transformation, resilient supply chains, and sustainability, further positioning Cairo as a regional hub for healthcare innovation. Daily News Egypt+1

EVARA’s focus: sustainability in healthcare operations

Throughout the week, EVARA’s team engaged hospital leaders, investors, and government stakeholders around two core themes:

1. Environmental Consulting for Healthcare Facilities
EVARA outlined practical pathways to lower environmental footprint while improving compliance and operating efficiency—covering energy and water use, air quality, emissions, and waste-stream optimization. Discussions highlighted how structured audits and targeted upgrades (e.g., HVAC and filtration performance, water-use intensity, on-site renewables, and digital monitoring) can deliver measurable cost and ESG benefits in line with hospital accreditation and regulatory frameworks across the region. (Context: sustainability and efficiency have been recurring priorities in ExCon programming.) IHF

2. Sustainable Medical-Waste Management
EVARA shared approaches for full life-cycle management of healthcare waste: source segregation, safe internal collection and temporary storage, transport logistics, treatment technologies (e.g., autoclaving, microwave, high-temperature incineration with emissions controls), and compliant disposal. The team cross-referenced commonly adopted regional guidance that stresses standardized handling for infectious and isolation-area waste, robust documentation, and staff training—cornerstones for risk reduction and regulatory compliance. lms.ehc.gov.eg

Key conversations and takeaways

· From policy to performance: Health authorities and hospital groups are seeking actionable roadmaps that connect national guidelines to site-level KPIs. EVARA presented frameworks that translate policy into operating procedures, dashboards, and audit cycles—so sustainability and safety targets become part of daily routines rather than stand-alone initiatives. (This aligns with ExCon’s objective to “identify solutions and strategies to current challenges.”) IHF

· Digital oversight enables faster improvement: Facility managers expressed strong interest in low-friction digital tools—barcode/QR-based chain-of-custody for waste containers, IoT monitoring for temperature/pressure in sterilization equipment, and exception alerts tied to SOPs. These systems help verify compliance in real time and streamline reporting to regulators and payers. (Digital transformation was a highlighted theme for the 2025 edition.) Daily News Egypt

· Procurement and vendor integration: Because the event is held under the auspices of Egypt’s Unified Procurement Authority, many discussions centered on how to standardize specifications for waste segregation containers, PPE, disinfectants, and treatment assets while maintaining competitive tenders and lifecycle value. JETRO+1

· Capacity building is pivotal: Several hospital networks requested tailored training programs for infection-prevention teams, waste handlers, and maintenance staff. EVARA outlined modular curricula—from fundamentals (classification, labeling, and color-coding) to advanced topics (emissions monitoring, autoclave validation, and incident investigation). (Professional development and knowledge exchange are core aims of ExCon.) IHF

What EVARA showcased

· End-to-end advisory for medical-waste systems: baseline assessments; SOP and policy updates; infrastructure design (internal routes, storage rooms, and ventilation); treatment-technology selection; vendor tender packs; commissioning and performance testing; and ongoing audit plans. lms.ehc.gov.eg

· Sustainability diagnostics for hospitals: rapid audits of energy and water intensity; opportunities for HVAC optimization and heat-recovery; on-site solar where feasible; and integration of monitoring tools for transparent dashboards and ESG reporting—topics that resonated with the summit’s innovation-and-trade agenda. IHF

· Training & change-management: practical workshops to embed best practices in daily operations and to track compliance with regional guidance for infectious waste handling and disposal. lms.ehc.gov.eg

Regional relevance

Africa’s healthcare systems are expanding capacity while navigating cost, safety, and environmental constraints. Forums like Africa Health ExCon—held at EIEC/Al-Manara in Cairo—provide a neutral platform for structured deals, technical dialogue, and public-private collaboration, with 2025 programming explicitly elevating AI-enabled operations and resilient supply chains. EVARA’s participation reflects our commitment to moving conversations from high-level intent to facility-level execution. Africa Health Excon+1

Next steps

Following the conference, EVARA is advancing bilateral discussions with hospitals and health authorities on:

· pilot projects for digital waste-tracking and sterilization-process monitoring;

· facility-wide SOP upgrades and staff certification programs;

· procurement support for compliant treatment technologies;

· and sustainability roadmaps tied to measurable KPIs and quarterly audits.
These engagements build on the momentum created by ExCon’s matchmaking and B2B programs and will be announced as projects reach contracting milestones. Africa Health Excon
